The Hummer/Bird Study Group held it's fall migration bird banding in October at Ft. Morgan National Wildlife Refuge at Ft. Morgan, Ala. The HBSG is a non-profit organization of environmental professionals and laymen dedicated to a better understanding about humming birds, song birds, and raptors. Their operations are funded strictly through memberships and donations.

Here are some videos of the HBSG at work. Many thanks to Bob Sargent, his wife, and to those who give and do so much to better understand and protect the resources we are entrusted with.

| Here are some photos of some of the many birds passing through Ft. Morgan National Wildlife Refuge as they prepare to head to Mexico, Central and South America, Cuba, and the Carribean. Waves of migrants getting one last rest, one last chance to fatten before crossing the Gulf of Mexico non-stop to points throughout the southern hemisphere. Some will follow coastlines east and west to reach wintering grounds. Shore birds, water fowl, song birds, and raptors all pass through this refuge on their spring and fall journeys.
